Placements and work experience

"In my role, I was able to oversee a project from its initial groundwork stages, through to snagging and finishing before we handed over to our customer."

At ISG we understand the importance of gaining insight and experience in an industry, while studying towards your degree. That’s why we offer university students the opportunity to work on high profile, live projects for 12 months, helping to bring the theory you are learning to life. Our placement programme challenges you to dream smart and never stop learning, creating a dynamic and challenging environment to help you to develop your knowledge and stand out from the crowd when you graduate.

The placement programme

Our 12-month placement programme will see you working on either one larger, or several smaller projects while you’re with us. You will be focused on your specialism and gain hands on experience and mentoring from industry experts within your field. This will give you a focussed insight into what a day in the life is like within your chosen field, while helping you understand how to work with customers, sub-contractors and other stakeholders on a project.

During your programme, you will also have a development record and supervisor to help you with any challenges you may face, and to help consolidate your learning. Your record doubles up as a placement diary, giving you knowledge and real-world examples of your work to take back to university to compliment your studies.

You will also undergo formal training courses as required by the project, as well as have informal networking opportunities to further develop your insight and relationships with those working within the industry.
