I joined ISG as a graduate in June 2010 and have enjoyed my experience with ISG since I started.

During my time in sixth form, I was unsure which direction I wanted my career to head in. Therefore, I took a good look at what I truly enjoyed; travelling and being outdoors and I also had a keen business mind that was influenced by my dad. Coupling this with my interest for business studies, my personal and professional passions led me to pursue a career which incorporated all these skill sets: Construction Management.

I’m currently working on the Morrisons work stream as a project manager, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from new builds through to fit outs and refurbs. This has given me the opportunity to travel the country and visit places that I wouldn’t have had the chance to go to. I also get to work with a wide variety of people from different walks of life, which can be challenging at times, but equally interesting and satisfying to learn from. One of the most fulfilling parts of my work is physically seeing our projects progress through the construction phases. I believe it makes a real difference seeing your hard work produce visual results.

Over the years, ISG have recognised my hard work, and in return, have supported my drive to further develop and progress within both the company and the industry. ISG’s support has been instrumental in helping me achieve my career aspirations. Continuous encouragement from my line managers through to my mentors has been second to none, and they actively promote training both on and off site. This support is also clear during my work on site, and I’m incredibly proud to work on such a great team. It’s so rewarding to see our team progress day-to-day and handing over a project to a client with minimal or no snags.

I have been asked to take part in ISG’s Futures Group, and over the next year I’m looking forward to working with different teams and regions at ISG. I feel very privileged to be part of the Futures Group and will strive to gain a better understanding of how and why we work as we do. It will also provide me with a platform to offer my suggestions to help ISG achieve its vision of being the world’s most dynamic construction services company.
