"The construction industry is one of the most vibrant industries there is to work in, as what you do changes from day to day and project to project."

Ensure you prove yourself at the beginning and you will quickly move high up the ranks with your education to back you up. These are words I always live by, and are a testament to my growth and development as design manager at ISG.

After completing my degree in Architectural Engineering and Design Management at Loughborough University, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in construction. I joined ISG in 2013 and since then have worked on the new build of a private school with a subterranean swimming pool and fitness facilities in central London. After recently completing this job I have moved on to working on one of ISG’s biggest jobs, the extension of the O2 to include two storeys of retail units. Day-to-day, I work alongside the project management and facilities management teams to manage all aspect of the design production on a project. This includes managing the release of the design from the consultants, as well as from our directly employed subcontractors.

The construction industry is one of the most vibrant industries there is to work in, as what you do changes from day to day and project to project. One thing the construction industry is missing is the need for more female representatives. If young women cannot see who they can be, they cannot be who they want to be – it’s not just for boys!

I’m very fortunate to be working for a company such as ISG who believe in their employees and encourage them to dream smart and never stop learning. My confidence has increased immensely and I have become more personable. I’m constantly thinking about where my next project will take me, and with ISG’s support I believe I can reach my full potential.
